Finding your wedding vendors can be a daunting and time-consuming task. Hiring a wedding planner can greatly alleviate the stress and time it takes to search for and interview your vendors, but first, you have to hire your planner, and that in itself can feel like an overwhelming task. So, to help out, here are ten essential questions to ask your potential wedding planner during the interview process:

1. Can you work within our budget?

2. Do you have a preferred vendor list that we are obligated to hire off of or do we have the choice to hire someone you have never worked with before?

3. Will you negotiate discounts and perks on my behalf with vendors?

4. How many people from your team will be working at my wedding and how many will be involved in the planning process?

5. How many weddings will my planner be working on at the same time as mine? How many weddings does each planner have a month? Will my planner have other weddings happening the same weekend as mine?

6. What is the the backup plan if my planner has an emergency on the day of my wedding and can’t make it?

7. What is your vendor selection process like?

8. How do you prefer to communicate?

9. Do you handle the invitations and guest list management?

10. What style of wedding do you get most excited about?

Remember, the key to a successful partnership with your wedding planner is clear communication, trust, and alignment of visions. Starting with these 10 questions as you interview potential planners should help you gauge if a planner is the right fit for your needs.
